Celebrating Our Newest Hero on a Mission: Rachel
At the Life Center, we believe every person has a story worth telling—and that story can turn from struggle to strength when someone chooses to step into their role as a hero. Today, we celebrate Rachel, our newest Hero on a Mission graduate, whose story reminds us that hope can grow even in weary places.
Rachel came into the program tired and discouraged. For over two years, she worked in a job that drained her joy, often carrying anger she didn’t even realize was there. Life left little time for rest, fun, or friendship. Yet even in her weariness, Rachel chose to show up, take the next step, and begin rewriting her story.
Through Hero on a Mission, she began to see her challenges differently. She problem-solved her way to lowering her energy bills, bravely left a second job that left her exhausted, and found flexible work driving for Amazon—something she can even share with her daughter, Allison. She rediscovered reading, a long-lost pleasure, and started to smile more, especially when talking about Allison.
One of the most inspiring changes has been Rachel’s decision to serve alongside her daughter in the Community Pantry. Together, they encourage others walking similar roads, and Rachel beams with pride at Allison’s compassion and strength. These small but steady steps show Rachel’s resilience and her growing hope for the future.
In her own words, Rachel shared: “What gives me hope is that every day I get to spend time with my daughter. She and I have recently got back into church and growing our faith. I hope that she gets a lifelong community of people to help and rely on in her hours of need.”
Scripture tells us, “The righteous choose their friends carefully, but the way of the wicked leads them astray” (Proverbs 12:26). Rachel is choosing wisely—leaning into faith, surrounding herself with supportive community, and walking a new path with her daughter by her side.
Rachel, your church family is here for you. The Life Center is here for you. Go be great, stay strong, and please stay close to Jesus. Congratulations on this awesome accomplishment.
Rachel reminds us that heroes don’t have to look fearless or perfect—they just have to keep moving forward, step by step. And that’s exactly what she’s doing.
